By using the Inkory website and browser extension, you agree to the terms below. It takes two minutes to read — especially section 5 (payment and refunds) and section 7 (the limits of AI output).
1. Who you are agreeing with
Inkory ("we", "us") provides the getinkory.com website and the Inkory browser extension (together, "the service"). Contact: jack@getinkory.com.
2. What the service is
Inkory is a writing aid: it highlights on web pages and PDFs while keeping the source, surfaces related highlights while you write, and after you finish compares your draft against the sources you cited. It is a Chrome extension, not a separate application you have to move your work into.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use the extension on devices you own. You may use it for commercial writing; the drafts and citations you produce are entirely yours.
You may not: reverse-engineer or bypass paid limits (except where the law expressly permits it); resell, rent or distribute the extension or your account; scrape the service with automated tools; use the service on content you have no right to process, or for unlawful activity.
4. Your content
The highlights, notes and drafts are yours. They live in your own browser; we claim no rights over them and cannot read them. That is also why you must keep your own backups — clearing browser data or uninstalling the extension deletes them, and we have no way to recover them.
You are responsible for what you write, including whether your citations are accurate and whether they infringe anyone's rights.
5. Payment, subscription and refunds
- New users get a 14-day full-feature trial, no credit card required. When it ends, the account drops to the free collection tier; existing drafts still open and export.
- Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, available monthly, quarterly or yearly, at the price shown on the purchase page (currently from $3.99 per month).
- Payment is processed by Creem as Merchant of Record, which handles collection, invoices and taxes.
- You can cancel at any time. Pro features remain available until the end of the current period, and the next period is not charged.
- Refunds: within 14 days of your first purchase, a full refund for any reason. Once a renewal period has started, we handle unused portions case by case. Write to jack@getinkory.com or request it from the order page in Creem.
- Price changes are announced on this site at least 30 days in advance and apply only to later periods.
6. Third parties
AI checking requires you to enter your own model provider API key, which creates a separate relationship between you and that provider; its cost, availability and terms are theirs to set. The service relies on Cloudflare for hosting and storage and on Creem for payments; interruptions in those may affect availability.
7. The limits of AI output (important)
AI checking compares your draft against the sources you cited. It does not verify facts online and does not judge whether your argument is right. What it points out is "does this sentence have support in the source" and "do these two sources disagree" — not "are you correct".
So: findings can miss things and can be wrong. It is an aid, not an editor, not a fact-checking body, and not legal, medical, financial or academic advice. The final proofread before publishing has to be yours.
8. The service may change or stop
We keep improving, so features may be added, adjusted or retired. We are not liable for temporary unavailability caused by maintenance, faults, upstream outages or force majeure, but we will try to give notice and keep it short. If we decide to shut the service down permanently, we will announce it at least 30 days ahead so you have time to export everything — your drafts are already local, and exporting does not depend on us.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profits, lost data or third-party claims. For direct loss arising from the service, our liability is capped at the amount you actually paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Termination
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling your subscription. If you materially breach section 3 or 4, we may stop providing the service to you.
11. Changes to these terms
When the terms change, the date at the top changes; significant changes are explained separately in the blog. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction where we are established. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the UK or another region with mandatory consumer protection, those protections are unaffected and you may still bring proceedings in your own country.
